Let’s face it, laundry isn’t the most exciting thing in the world, but it is a constant must-do. Everyone faces the challenge, but StoneGate Apartment Homes makes it easier by providing washer/dryer hookups in our apartments for members of our apartment community. Having great amenities is definitely a perk of living here at StoneGate! You thankfully don’t have to drive all over Williamsville, NY looking for a laundromat that is open, clean, and reasonably priced. Today we have some tips for making laundry day go more smoothly in our blog post.
Removing Stains
Print out a basic stain removal guide and hang it by your washer; that way you will have the solution you need for stains where you need it, when you need it. For more in-depth information on stain removal, refer to this Stain Solutions Guide by the University of Illinois Extension Office.
Using the information in the stain removal guides as a resource, put together a stain treatment kit to keep near your hampers in your laundry area. Having the supplies you need nearby will make it easier to take care of stains quickly and efficiently.
Washing and Drying
Wash darks inside out to reduce the amount of fading that occurs during the washing cycle. Also be sure to fasten buttons and zip zippers so they don’t catch on other items as easily.
Keep a whiteboard by your washer and as you load the laundry make a note of anything that can’t go in the dryer. This makes it easy to pull the items out when you switch loads.
Throw a dry towel into your dryer with wet laundry — it will absorb moisture and speed up the drying process.
Random Tips
In a pinch, a flat iron works well to iron cuffs and collars for your shirt. It also works well to iron ties on aprons, blouses, or dresses.
Put an adjustable spring load rod above the washer and dryer to create a place to hang clothes as they come out of the dryer.
